Free speech is supposed to protect inconvenient opinions

Censoring inconvenient opinions makes no sense, because free speech exists precisely to protect disagreement with socially accepted views, aka inconvenient opinions. In a world where everyone agrees, freedom of expression would be meaningless. Its purpose is not to protect consensus, but to preserve a space in which opinions can challenge, disrupt, and question what is commonly accepted.
